Welcome to the West X1 Cricket Club web site, home to cricket lovers of all shapes, sizes and abilities.
West X1 Cricket Club was founded in 1986 at the Warwick Arms pub in Kensington, west London, by an eclectic mix of drinkers & wasters, united by a common love of cricket. Had the licensing laws been more liberal back then they might have contented themselves with mere alcohol and unstructured badinage. But that was then. And so West X1 cricket club was born, essentially to bridge the gap between lunchtime closing and opening time on a Sunday evening.
Many years on and most of the personnel have changed but not the ethos of the club. It remains a haven for those who value wit, friendship and the spirit of cricket above the twin imposters of success & failure. We now play approximately 20 fixtures around London, with at least one overseas tour and an annual rainfest in Somerset every July.
If you are interested in playing for West X1, or are looking to extend your fixture list, or indeed wish to make a generous donation, please use the contact lists or email to westx1cricket@googlemail.com.
